Residents of Las Lomas # 1 have staged a fiery demonstration protesting the recent upsurge of break-ins and larceny in the area and what they describe as the slow response by Police.

From as early as 7am, the residents armed with placards, blocked the road using burning tires and debris demanding an increase in the Police presence.

Councilor for the area Manohar Gosine was very critical about the Police response, adding that he believes the criminal acts are being committed by outsiders.

Another Councilor, Sahadeo Bhundo says that that perpetrator have the village under siege.

He added, following meetings with senior police officers who gave assurances that there would be increased Police presence.

Bhundo however warned if the affecting issues are not dealt with in a timely manner, their protest would intensify
