Citizens who have lost a loved one through crime can now access the services of the Victim Support Unit.

The Unit which was recently launched is an arm of the Police Service.

Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Homicide Maurice Piggott outlines the unit is made of experts in the various fields as well as police officers.

Speaking on the Marcia in the Morning Programme this week, Mr Piggott is confident the work of the group would go a long way in easing the trauma of those affected by crime.

The A.C.P. said the public can expect more advertising and promotion of the V.S.U. so members of the public can known more about the group and the work it does.

Commenting on the recently passed D.N.A. legislation in the Parliament, the A.C.P. said while the initiative would play a key role in the investigative skills of police officers there is still more to be done in this area.

Mr Piggott said this is necessary to ensure integrity and professional.
