Caroni East MP Tim Goopeesingh says citizens are starving for food as well as accurate information.

He made the statement during this afternoon’s parliamentary debate on the issue of rising food prices.

Dr. Goopeesingh challenged Prime Minister Patrick Manning to prove there’s no food crisis in this country.

He added Government’s assessment of the food situation in T&T is based of false statistics.

And urged the Prime Minister to tell the truth, like ex-Trade and Industry Ministry Dr. Keith Rowley.

The Opposition MP called on realistic measures to deal with the issue.

According to Dr. Goopeesingh the Cameroon government has reduced expenditure in an effort to counter the effects of cost of food.
