The disparity in the number of places attained by students of African descent in the top 100 of the Secondary Entrance Assessment examination is not new..

But Head of the Emancipation Support Committee, Kafra Kambon describes the situation as a crisis.

A report in today’s newspaper lists the top 100 SEA children….and the majority of students who placed have East Indian names.

Mr. Kambon says a five-year report done by the Centre of Ethnic Studies several years ago found that the mean scores of African children were lower than children of other ethnicities.

Mr. Kambon is asking what could have taken place to push Afro-Trinidadian to the bottom of the educational ladder.
